Statement from the Government of China

The Chairman of State-Owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council is highly concerned by the standard of living and economic development of residents in Tibet. Having considered the geographic and topographic features, therefore block of economic development due to lacking of accessibility with other parts of People’s Republic of China. Bearing in mind, communication and transportation are the basic steps to be achieved in order to start investments and initiate business for economical improvement. We suggest to build mountain tunnels through Mount Himalaya to enable better information transmission and to recruit commercial investment from the east coast of China.

The Chinese Minister of Water Resources encourages adopting a couple of plans to provide development aid in Tibet. Further development of the Hydro-power energy in Tibet, as one of the major producers of such energy, is greatly encouraged. We also would like to kindly remind of the importance of the South-North Water Transfer Project in supplying the Northern parts of China with water and urge the importance of developing it furthermore.
