Lack of Action Condemned by General Singh

Indian Chief of Army Staff, General VK Singh, has released a statement condemning the lack of military response to the Lashkar-e-Taiba attack on Indian civilians in the wake of a statement by the Lashkar e Taiba in which they claimed responsibility for the attacks.

He has demanded that India mobilize and deploy forces on the Kashmir border, reaffirming Indian dominance in the region and stemming any further terrorist acts out of Pakistan.

General Singh has been a controversial figure in India in recent years by becoming the first Indian Army officer to take the government to court. Singh has considerable sway with the Indian public and has considerable power in his post, that could signal a problem for the slow acting Indian government in this crisis.
